What is GIS?
A:
A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a combination of computer hardware and software used to map and analyze real world features such as roads, streams, street signs, and more. The technology lets analysts discover relationships between the data that might not be easily understood otherwise.

What is the difference between the Map Gallery and the GIS Data Website?
A:
The Map Gallery provides static maps that are frequently requested by citizens. The GIS Data Website is an interactive website that allows the user to zoom in and out and add/remove data as needed. Both sites provide the ability to print the maps or data.
Q:
What kind of software do I need to view and print maps from the Map Gallery?
A:
The maps provided in the Map Gallery are available in Adobe Portable Document File (PDF) Format and can be viewed and printed using Adobe Reader. A free download is available from the
Adobe Reader website

What kind of software do I need to use the GIS Data Website?
A:
The GIS Data Website requires the use of an internet browser and Adobe Flash Player 9.0 or greater. A free download is available from the

A:
All efforts are made to update the data on the GIS Data Website on a monthly basis.
